Install Google Now on Your ICS Device

|

One stand out feature of JellyBean has been Google Now, unfortunately google decided against releasing it for any device running below jellybean, 4.1
Developers back at xda never let the community down, they always come up with great ways to fullfill our wishes, the wish to run google now on our ICS running phones is also fullfilled.
Here is a quick guide to get Google Now working your phones running Android 4.0+ i.e ICS
There Are Two Methods Here Iam Going to Explain Both of them..
Requirements :
  • Rooted
  • ICS
  • Deodexed ROM

Method 2 : Auomatic Install via GNow Handlebars

  • Download the App from here
Before you install Google Now check if voicesearch.apk is installed, if so rename to voicesearch.apk.bak
  • Install the app & Open it
  • Make a choice (“A” or “B”)
  • A. Install (Install Google Now)
  • -> Choose .apk
  • B. Restore (Restore Google Search)
  • -> Rename voicesearch.apk.bak to voicesearch.apk
  • Select A for installing Google Now
  • Exit.

Although the app has been tested and users have reported that it works well on ICS, it is bound to have some bugs or support issues for some phone models. You can give it a try and if it doesn’t work then simply Restore the default Google Search on ICS.

Method 2:

This only works on AOSP Ice Cream Sandwich ROMs, so you won't be able to get it if you're running, say, an HTC Sense Ice Cream Sandwich ROM—you'll need something like CyanogenMod 9. It also isn't perfect, since voice search isn't working, but you'll still get Google's smarter Knowledge Graph integration, and all the other good stuff that comes with Google Now. To get it up and running, download the APK and perform the following steps:
  1. Open Root Explorer or another root-enabled file explorer and go to/system.
  2. Tap the "Mount R/W" button, then scroll down tobuild.propand press and hold on it. Tap "Open in Text Editor".
  3. Find the line that saysro.build.version.sdk=15and change it to readro.build.version.sdk=16. Press the menu button and tap "Save and Exit".
  4. Go to/system/appand hold-pressGoogleQuickSearchBox.apk. Rename it toGoogleQuickSearchBox.apk1. If that file doesn't exist (it didn't for me), just skip this step.
  5. Reboot your phone and install the Google Now APK, once again available here.
  6. Go back and editbuild.propas described in step two, and change thero.build.version.sdkline back to15.
  7. Reboot your phone one last time.
Again, not everything works perfectly, and without voice search it's about half as good as the real version, but it's still much better than the current Google search app. You'll get the advanced Knowledge Graph-based search, as well as smart cards for things like weather, nearby restaurants, and more. Note that every phone is different, so your mileage may vary—so hit the link below to try it out and see what happens.
